The Bodhi Casa Yosemite backpacking trip is our favorite way to reward residents for completing Phase 1 of the program. Wilderness therapy is a nature-centric approach to drug and alcohol abuse treatment through rigorous outdoor hiking and camping. This trip helps residents build strength physically, psychologically and within their sobriety as a whole. It creates self-awareness and a deep connection with nature that is often forgotten or undiscovered with our busy urban lives. The trip also builds bonds and improves the community connection among residents. Mindfulness meditation is integrated into this backpacking trip which helps center our residents in the beauty of Yosemite Valley.
